As Minister for Skills and Apprenticeships from 2017 to 2019 Anne was responsible for all post 16 Further Education. She oversaw the implementation of the reforms to apprenticeships, was responsible for T Level development, and also Adult Education and Careers Advice.

Prior to this Anne was Minister for Women, Government Deputy Chief Whip and Minister for Public Health.

She was MP for Guildford from 2005-2019 and stood as an Independent candidate in the 2019 General Election.

She previously served as a borough councillor in Surrey for 5 years

Having trained as a nurse she worked in the NHS for 25 years prior to going into politics.
